Forksy (“we”, “us”) is run by Shockley Businesses LLC. This policy explains what we collect when you use Forksy at forksy.shockley-home.workers.dev, why, and the choices you have.

What we collect

• Account details. Your display name, email address and password (stored only in scrambled, hashed form).
• Your general location. If you allow it, your device shares an approximate location so we can show spots near you and measure distance. We use it on your device for searching. We save a location only when you add a spot with “I’m here now”, and then we save it as that spot’s location, not as yours.
• What you post. Spots you add, ratings, price votes, review comments, thumbs-up and thumbs-down votes, food photos, and spots you share with friends. Reviews, comments and photos are public.
• Your lists. Favorites, your Nah list and the reasons you give. These are private to you.
• Reports and messages. If you report content or contact us, we keep what you send.
• Usage and device data. Like most websites, our hosting provider and advertising partners receive basic technical data such as IP address, browser type and pages viewed.

How we use it

• To run Forksy: show nearby spots, save your lists, display reviews and photos, and let friends share spots with you.
• To keep Forksy safe: review reports, remove content that breaks our rules, and stop spam or abuse.
• To pay for Forksy: show advertising, as described below.
• To answer you when you contact us.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your email address with other users.

Advertising and cookies

Forksy is free and supported by ads. We use third-party advertising partners, including Google AdSense. These partners may use cookies, web beacons and similar technologies to show ads based on your visits to Forksy and other websites, and to measure how ads perform.

• Google’s use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites. Learn more at How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
• You can turn off personalized ads from Google at Google Ad Settings, and from many other ad companies at aboutads.info/choices.
• Where the law requires it, we ask for your consent before using advertising cookies, and you can change your choice at any time.

We also use your browser’s local storage to remember settings such as your theme and search radius.

Who we share it with

• Other users see your display name with the reviews, comments and photos you post, and friends see spots you share with them.
• Service providers who host Forksy, store photos, send account emails and serve ads, only as needed to provide those services.
• Legal reasons. If the law requires it, or to protect people’s safety or our rights.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your information while your account is open. You can delete your account at any time from Account → Delete account. That removes your account, reviews, votes, shares and lists. Spots you added stay listed so others can find them, without your name attached. Backups are cleared within 30 days.

Your choices and rights

You can view and edit most of your information in the app, turn off location in your device settings, and delete your account. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request a copy of your data, correct it, or delete it. Email us to make a request.

Children

Forksy is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date above, and for big changes we will tell you in the app.

These terms are an agreement between you and Shockley Businesses LLC, which runs Forksy. By using Forksy you agree to them.

Your account

You must be at least 13 years old to make an account. Keep your password private. You are responsible for what happens under your account.

What you post

You own the reviews, comments and photos you post. By posting, you give Forksy a free, worldwide license to show, store, resize and share that content in the app and in promoting Forksy. You can delete your content or your account at any time.

Community rules

• Review places you have actually been. Be honest and specific.
• A 1-fork review needs a real comment explaining what went wrong.
• Only post food and place photos you took yourself. No photos of other people without their permission.
• No hate, harassment, threats, sexual content, spam, ads for other businesses, or personal information about anyone.
• No fake reviews, including reviews of your own business or reviews you were paid to write.
• Don’t add the same place twice. Duplicates are merged automatically.
• Don’t try to break, overload or scrape Forksy.

We may remove content or close accounts that break these rules. Anyone can report a review or photo, and we review reports.

Listings

Spot details come from users and may be out of date or wrong: hours, menus, prices, delivery and locations change. Check with the business before you go. Forksy is not connected to the businesses listed unless we say so.

Ads

Forksy is free and shows ads. Ads are clearly marked. We are not responsible for products or services advertised by others.

No warranty

Forksy is provided “as is”. We do our best to keep it running and accurate, but we can’t promise it will always be available or error-free.

Limit of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses from using Forksy, including a bad meal, a closed food truck or a long walk.

Changes

We may update these terms. If you keep using Forksy after a change, the new terms apply.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of MO, USA.

The best meal in town is often at a place you walk past every day: a taco window down an alley, a family bakery in a strip center, a food truck that parks by the brewery on Thursdays. Those places rarely have a marketing budget, so they get lost behind the big chains.

Forksy is a free, community-built guide to those spots. Foodies add the mom & pop eateries, food trucks and carts they find, rate them from 1 to 3 forks, vote on how pricey they are from $ to $$$$$, and post photos of what they ate. Everyone else can search by what’s on the menu and find something good within walking distance.

How it stays useful

• Real comments. A 1-fork review needs a real reason, so low ratings mean something.
• No arguing. People can agree or disagree with a comment, but there are no replies.
• A head start. Many spots start from open map data (© OpenStreetMap contributors), with national chains filtered out. Members add the rest, and every rating and review comes from a real person.
• No duplicates. The same place can’t be added twice, and a cleanup runs three times a day.
• Your own lists. Save favorites, share them with friends, and keep a private Nah list so you remember which places weren’t for you.
